The Juicy Update (PART TWO | V.0.9)


Hello nerds! 

The Descent has finally released it's second-to-last major update! Here are all the new features!

  •  Extras Menu: It's still under construction, but we now have a new menu hub for everything outside of the base game! This menu holds options, credits, and eventually more!
  • Sound FX Toggle: Not a fan of sound effects in your game? Turn them off with a new toggle!
  • Music Toggle: Not a fan of music? Turn that off too!
  • Fullscreen Toggle: Now you can play The Descent with the visuals to their max in fullscreen mode!
  • Particles Toggle: Do you find the particle effects a tad too distracting? Turn them off!
  • Screenshake Toggle: Screenshake making you a tad motion sick? Turn that off as well!
  • Save Delete: Want to start your Descentlands journey from the start? Delete all your save progress and take it from the top!
  • Credits: Learn a bit more about the people behind this game with the credits and bios that come along with them!
  • Main Menu Art: Suddenly the main menu is WAY more interesting to look at!
  • New Sound Effects: To add some more juice, we gotta stimulate your senses, and hearing is a great one to start with!
  • New Particle Effects: A new particle system has been implemented, and it's more satisfying than ever!

Of course, there were even more changes to the game than there are features! Let's detail them all here!

  • Redone UI: From the font of choice to the bullet selection, the UI has been almost completely redone!
  • Redirect Bullet Buff: The Redirect bullet has gone through a few changes to help with game balancing, such as making the bullets far faster than before, buffing their strength, and sharpening their aim!
  • Stun Bullet Buff: The Stun bullet has also received a slight buff in damage!
  • Poison Bullet Buff: The Poison bullet has received a buff in damage, as well as the poison it inflicts enemies with!
  • Enemy Spawn Cap: A cap has been placed on the amount of enemies that can exist at once, as a means to help with performance issues when the room gets full of enemies
  • Bolt Spawn Cap: A cap has been placed on the amount of bolts that can exist at once, as a means to help with performance issues when the room gets full of bolts
  • Damage Screenshake: Upon taking damage, the screen will shake a little bit, to let you know to get out of the way!
  • Turret HP Bug Fix: Turrets no longer instantly die from a single bullet hit, now properly responding to damage from a bullet
  • Auto-Save: The game now automatically saves the game for you no matter what!
  • Power-Up Spawning Change: Now, power-ups have a 20% chance of spawning at the beginning of a round!
  • Deeper Descent Mode: The Deeper Descent mode no longer quickens round time; instead, the mode spawns twice as many enemies at a time
  • Mouse Control Scheme: You can now play The Descent with just one hand! Hold down the right mouse button to move towards your mouse!

And with that, the Juicy Update comes to a close, and the final update begins! This final update is going to add voice lines, lore, more weapons, more upgrades, more power-ups, and even a boss fight that's currently in the works! Because of the scale though, it's going to take a lot more than a couple of weeks to get it done. Right now, the release date for The Descent V.1.0 is October 20th, but delays could happen.
